Abstract:

The upcoming generation of the large-scale structure (LSS) surveys require highly accurate theoretical model of LSS. After brief summarizing the development of non-linear perturbation theory, I will demonstrate how the ‘statistical equivalence’ could help us to formulate an effective theory of the LSS clustering. Compared with these ‘forward modeling’ methods, an alternative approach is to perform backward reconstruction to observed data. I will present our recent efforts in recovering linear information from baryonic acoustic oscillation signal and its applications in galaxies survey and 21cm intensity mapping.

Dr. Xin Wang received his PhD from National Astronomical Observatories, CAS. He then worked as an assistant research scientist in Johns Hopkins University, USA., before receiving CITA fellow from Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, Canada. In 2018, Dr. Xin Wang joined the School of Physics and Astronomy Sun Yat-sen University as an associate professor.  Dr. Wang mainly works on the large-scale structure, focusing on both theoretical modeling and data analysis.
